Accounting Specialist

About the role

A rapidly expanding team is looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Accounting Specialist to join its Finance team. You will own the full reporting cycle, from day-to-day entries and reconciliations through review and close, using QuickBooks and Xero, while keeping accurate financial records and complying with financial procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full reporting cycle: transaction entry and review, bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, and month-end and year-end close.
• Prepare accurate financial statements and reports for management review.
• Review and quality-check entries and reconciliations, including those of others, to catch errors before close.
• Support audit preparation, tax filing, and budgeting and forecasting as needed.
• Flag discrepancies early and recommend process improvements to keep the books clean and efficient.
• As the team grows, help onboard, guide and review the work of additional data entry staff or junior bookkeepers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounts or Finance.
• At least 4 to 5 years of accounting experience.
• Experience with US tax preparation is a significant plus.
• Strong communicator, able to write and speak English simply and clearly.
• Quick learner in a fast-paced environment, with excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Comfortable reviewing and catching errors in others' work, with good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts, entities and deadlines.
• Team player who is a self-starter, critical thinker and good cultural fit.

Required skills

• Ideally certified in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Xero, or proven experience with them.
• Bookkeeping and accounting experience.
